Red dead redemption 2 is a video game that is full of mysteries, ranging from its strange statues puzzle to the killer clue murder scene. It is also filled with strange characters that your character meets on his adventures, an example of which is an Englishman known as Nigel, who is in search of his missing friend Gavin.
Several players have been looking for Red Dead Redemption 2 Gavin location to no avail. If you are one of them, then you can read on. Otherwise, be warned that this article contains spoilers.
Who is Gavin?
If you are yet to hear of Gavin, then you haven’t come across a concerned Englishman who is roaming around various townships and locations continuously searching for his good friend, Gavin. The Englishman’s name is Nigel and he can be found in any of the following places:
- Saint Denis
- The Forests of Roanoke
- MacFarlane’s Ranch
If you are interested in helping him with his search, then you can go ahead and join him. However, keep in mind that the search will be long and it is highly likely that it will be inconclusive because you may never find Gavin as he may not even be alive.
As you might have guessed, Gavin is a Non-Player Character (NPC) who is a lovely Englishman, according to his friend. And Nigel continuously repeats the same thing about how he and Gavin got separated and how he is unable to find him anywhere, even though he’s searched for him all around.
Afterwards, Nigel requests the help of your character, which Arthur automatically declines by saying he hasn’t seen Gavin anywhere. However, this only prompts some players to join Nigel in his search for Red Dead Redemption 2 Gavin location.
Letter to Nigel from Tom
Desperate to advance and just find Gavin, some players strike Nigel unconscious. Note that doing this, that is knocking Nigel out or killing him will enable you to loot his body and obtain the letter he holds which is titled “Letter to Nigel from Tom.” In this letter, a mystery man identified as Tom praises Nigel and Gavin’s accomplishments as millionaire cowboys, which is apparently false since Nigel does not appear rich in any way. The letter also mentions that Gavin never detailed his success in any of the letters he sent home to the UK.
The letter further states that both Nigel and Gavin’s parents were happy for their successes. The contents of this letter made players suspicious, which caused them to wonder if Nigel was spinning stories.
At the end, the strange man, Tom, mentions a man known as Brian Gold, who was yet to be found in the game. Tom noted to Nigel that Brian said some really odd things about Nigel, which further caused players to think that Brian is aware of Gavin’s location and identity, if he existed or was alive.
Theories About Red Dead Redemption 2 Gavin Location
There are several theories about the location of Gavin in the Red Dead Redemption 2 game. While some of these theories make sense, other ones do not. However, the most important detail is that no player has been able to locate Gavin and provide actual proof of his existence and location.
- One of the theories posed by Red Dead Redemption 2 players is that Gavin is the young person locked up in the basement of the Rhodes gunsmith. This would be clever, especially if you crossed paths with Nigel in Rhodes. However, the boy that is chained under the gun shop in Rhodes is suspected to be non-English, which automatically disqualifies him because Gavin is an Englishman.
- Another theory suggests that Gavin is in a mine near Strawberry as he was abducted by the O’Driscolls. Sadly, this seems to be one of the theories that make no sense.
- Thirdly, some players have claimed that they helped locate Gavin in Red Dead Redemption 2’s open world. Unfortunately, they have no proof to back this statement up.
There are a number of evidences that point to the fact that Gavin may not even be in the game. One of such evidence is the fact that there hasn’t been any actual proof of his existence. In fact, there is no character known as Gavin in the end credits of the game which makes it plausible that Gavin’s location is just a wild goose chase without an end.
Moreover, if you are able to reach the Epilogue part of the game, you will find Nigel still walking around the open world in his search for Gavin even when after ten years. In essence, there is no real conclusion as to the whereabouts of Gavin or Nigel’s story in the entire Red Dead Redemption 2 game which makes it easy to assume that Gavin does not even exist.
